Message from President and CEO

Chuo Kasei is a strong proponent of the SDGs and makes decisive contributions towards their achievement.

We believe that protecting the global environment is a fundamental corporate challenge, and we strive to provide environmentally friendly and safe products by taking environmental issues into consideration. We are also committed to thoroughly complying with laws and regulations, further enhancing our compliance system and managing the SDGs in a highly transparent manner in order to earn the trust and praise of all our stakeholders.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the successors to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) formulated in 2001, were contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development unanimously adopted at the September 2015 UN Summit by member countries and are international goals towards the creation of a sustainable and better world by 2030. Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, they represent a pledge to “leave no one behind” on Earth. Far from being meant for developing countries only, the SDGs are universal and, therefore, apply to developed countries too, and Japan is also actively working on them.

Basic Philosophy

Chuo Kasei became a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil in January of 2016.
People around the world have been increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of the rapid expansion of oil palm plantations. Against this backdrop, the RSPO was established in 2004 by related organizations including the WWF (Worldwide Fund for Nature).

The purpose of the RSPO is to promote the production and use of sustainable palm oil. It is a nonprofit organization and it operates in cooperation with related parties in seven sectors^* related to the palm oil industry.

* Palm oil production, oil extraction and trade, consumer product manufacturing, retail, banking and financial companies, environmental NGOs, and society/development-related NGOs.
